First a small note on my choice of photo. I am thinking about the concept of being cracked open, inspired or sometimes provoked to start anew. May this week’s quotes crack you open in a good way, inspire your creativity and thought, and help you to cope.

I discovered in nature the nonutilitarian delights that I sought in art. Both were a form of magic, both were a game of intricate enchantment and deception.

Start with the truth. If you made mistakes, say you made mistakes. If you’re confused, say you are confused. If you're lonely, say you're lonely. Admit your fears, your insecurities, how it shook the hell out of you—but you still stand. Get the raw materials out there before you start worrying about how to shape them. There’s something beautiful in vulnerability, something disarming in honesty.
Camille Dawnier, How to write a love letter in the Substack Chronicles
This post resonated with me because I love writing love letters. My polyamorous nature means that I believe in love of all kinds and believe it should be shared rather than hoarded or reserved for sexual relationships. So I write love letters to platonic friends too. I’d like to write love letters to book stores, cafes and characters in books. Reward for close readers: write a love letter to a character and share it in the comments or in a message and I will mail you a tiny love letter in return.

I am neither ready nor willing to pick up the guns of revolution. Perhaps this is cowardice on my part, or a sense of being tired. Or perhaps this is my way of saying that freedom won by violence begets more violence still. Or maybe, as some other people say, we need both those who are willing to fight a revolution, and those who are able to offer succor and aid to the ones most affected by the war.
I don’t have an answer for that. All I know is: Nothing is inevitable, even when it feels that way.

Your job is to keep trying to hold on even when you think you can't. ~ Kathryn Janeway, Voyager, Infinite Regress episode

Nobody's perfect. There was never a perfect person around. You just have half-angel and half-devil in you.
