I’m very impressed with our inventive participants and their ability to write backwards, remix text and generate imaginative flashy flash.
Rasa, our main character is shapeshifting, possibly to avoid the suburbs.
Thanks to all who’ve participated so far.
For those who are just catching up, here’s how it works.
There’s a Google doc started last year by a group of 15 participants for the AngelHousePress inaugural Flash-A-Ganza. Together we are writing a flovel, a novel in flash fiction form. You can read the first installment, “Once Upon A Blank Slate” by going to AngelHousePress, clicking on Essays at the top and scrolling down to 2022. There’s a pdf with the title, “Once Upon A Blank Slate” you can download. A bit like a scavenger hunt, isn’t it? What we are foraging for is imagination, whimsy and fun!
This year we decided to continue the flovel. This year’s project will continue until August 31, after which I will turn the installment into a pdf and publish it on the AngelHousePress site. If you’d like to participate, e-mail me at amanda at angelhousepress dot com and I will send you the link to the collaborative Google doc and ask you to follow the instructions.
There are also prizes. Before this year’s flovel flash fun began, i made a spreadsheet with ten words. The first time those words are written by participants, they win a prize. If they have already won a prize, we wait until the new participants use the words. Prizes so far have included AngelHousePress chapbooks, a CD of songs related to the story. The next prize is a handstitched hand drawn booklet by yrs truly.
If you like whimsy, if you like creativity, if you like working collaboratively with other whimsical folk, join us! I’d love to have you here in flovelland.
