This is a birthday celebration and a launch. In October, I turn 60 and in November, it is 14 years since my survival from a near-death health crisis. Some of my dear friends have agreed to celebrate with me by reading from their latest and forthcoming works. I’m going to add more details soon, but for now, here’s the plan:
MONTREAL: Accent Reading Series, La Marche à Côté, 5043, rue Saint-Denis, Sunday, November 5, 2023, 8pm, an open mic and two features (one anglophone - me; and a francophone - tba)
ZOOM: Sunday, November 12, 2023, 2pm with Christine McNair and Sandra Ridley. November 12 is an important day for me. It’s the day I survived an operation that gave me no odds of survival. I see it as a birthday/rebirthday. I am very happy and excited to be reading with Christine and Sandra, who were there for me and for Charles in that harrowing time. Book your tickets via Eventbrite.
TORONTO: The Tranzac Club, Living Room, 292 Brunswick Avenue, Sunday, November 19, 2023, 3pm. I am very excited to be celebrating with dear friends, Jim Johnstone, Kirby, Marcus McCann, Rasiqra Revulva and Dani Spinosa.
Thank you to the League of Canadian Poets, The Writers Union of Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts for funding these events. Gratitude to the City of Ottawa and the Ontario Arts Council for support for drafting and editing of the manuscript.
Stay tuned for bios, photos and more celebratory posts soon! I can’t wait to celebrate with you, in person and on Zoom.
