It's Monday. Try not to panic
It's still dark. The plows are scraping snow off Bronson sidewalks. It's Monday. I bolt awake. My brain immediately tries to remember every item on my things to do list. I can no longer sleep.
Why do Mondays incite panic? Maybe because they are the traditional start of the work week.
Since my husband was laid off in November, our days begin later. He doesn't leave the apartment at seven a.m. in darkness. We can sleep until daylight. I often do but Mondays are still uneasy days for me.
Today I am only a little bit anxious. For some Canadians today is a holiday called Family Day. It's a confusing holiday because it depends on whether your province offers it, and whether your workplace is federally regulated if the latter, you don't get the holiday. Charles never had this day off. So this is our first Family Day.
Maybe I'll try to go back to sleep for another hour.
