Many Gendered Mothers is a project on literary influence featuring short essays by writers (of any/all genders) on the women, femme, trans, and non-binary writers who have influenced them, as a direct or indirect literary forebear.
I have loved this idea for many years and had the pleasure of having a note I wrote about dear friend and brilliant poetesse, Sandra Ridley published in 2017.
Now I have a new essay in MGM on the brilliant and engaging Gatineau artist, michèle provost.
I love the whole idea of creative influences. For Judith: Women Making Visual Poetry, I asked contributors to name and discuss artists and visual poets who had influenced or inspired their own work. One of my own influences is the visual poet, Judith Copithorne. Her book, Another Order, Selected Works, edited by Eric Schmaltz has just come out with Talonbooks. See Eric’s site for info on launches in Toronto and Vancouver.
Tell me about who your creative influences are. I’d love to hear.
