Dear friends,
I’m trying to raise $500 this month to help end diabetes. This money will go toward time in the lab to figure out a cure for diabetes. Any amount you can provide will help. Here’s the donation link.
In March, 2022, i was diagnosed with diabetes. With the help of diet and physical activity changes, I’ve been able to get my blood sugar levels down to non diabetic and I hope this continues, but not everyone can do this. Across Canada, there are 11.7 million people living with diabetes or prediabetes. Today 415 Million people worldwide are living with diabetes. In 2040 more than half a billion will have diabetes.
Through the Lace Up Canada campaign, Diabetes Canada has been able to provide vital support to those living with diabetes and their families. It has supported healthcare providers with education and information on the latest science and research through its conferences. It has created greater public awareness of diabetes causing 170,000 Canadians to take action to end diabetes, and it has provided 95 hours of summer programming for children and youth with type 1 diabetes, serving 218 households over six weeks.
Every 3 minutes a Canadian is diagnosed with diabetes or prediabetes.
Diabetes is not slowing down and more work needs to be done. One in 3 people across Canada are affected by diabetes or prediabetes, and some will experience serious and even life-threatening complications.
That’s why Diabetes Canada started Lace Up to End Diabetes. Every dollar raised helps fund education, support services, advocacy and diabetes research that could lead to the next big medical breakthrough.
