INTRODUCTION
PURPLE is a long poem made from remixing and 25 online sources, including Ulysses, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, scoldy messages and e-mails I’ve received from men, and entries for the Green Man on Wikipedia. A full list of sources can be provided upon request and will also appear in the forthcoming publication of PURPLE in 2023.
I am grateful to the Ontario Arts Council Recommender Program for funding the work, Palimpsest Press and Hamilton Arts & Letters for recommending PURPLE and the Writers Union of Canada for sponsoring the video reading.
