Writing into the Void...

Well, fellow writers, we’re all writing here and more often than not, we are getting little response, maybe the occasional emoji, but primarily this space can be a big empty for those who require attention. sometimes this gets me down, but for the most part, i have always written as if no one is reading and that has freed me.
i write book reviews, in part so that writers will know that their work is appreciated and paid attention to. i interview writers and artists for the same reason, and of course, as a publisher, i am paying careful attention to other’s writing. as an editor too. it is my job to pay attention, so it it is a priority for me.
those of you who read but don’t do creative work yourselves, it would be so great if you would write comments or send messages when something resonates with you.
i’m not talking about critique or suggestions for improvement. i actually hate that here. i have plenty of professional editors to give me feedback on work for publication. this space isn’t for that. it’s a space for me to connect with kindred misfits and feel solidarity and feel like we are not alone.
it takes time to craft a piece of writing. it would be lovely if readers responded. it would make this writer feel a little less alone. so many times, i feel like i am writing into the void. i will write anyway. i can’t help it, but it would be really good to hear more than the echo of empty space around me…

Much resonated with me here. We write for many reasons. Connecting with others is a great reason.
