I don't know if I fall in love with my poetry characters - I do get very 'into' them for a while though. I certainly fall in love with subjects for a long time xxx
I definitely fell in love with Kiki,.the subject of my first poetry collection and Ursula,.a recurring character from Saint Ursula's Commonplace Book. 8 have recurring ghosts that appear in various works. They don't seem to care what genre they're in. I fall in love with subjects too. I think because i typically write long form work,.I have time to develop relationships with characters and space to develop them in depth. The landscape or a building or a flower can also be a character.
