One of the most engaging contemporary erotica writers and thinkers about eroticism, desire and jouissance is Madeline Morris, whose pen name is Remittance Girl. I’ll be quoting liberally from her work during my forthcoming workshop. I highly recommend that you read everything on her blog, especially her short fiction.
In a presentation to ErotiCon, an annual conference for erotic creatives, writers, bloggers, photographers, and artists in London, she said “Ask yourself what you want the reader to walk away with. How do you hope they’re changed by the experience of reading your work?”
My intent for this workshop is to offer insights and some tools for you to work with, should you choose to incorporate erotic elements into your writing or write texts that center the erotic. I also think that these notes might also help with writing fiction in general.
Writing the erotic as a radical act of resistance will take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 12pm ET/1800 CET. It will be a half hour talk with opportunities for questions and if we have time, a few prompts. The workshop is being offered for free, with a request for donations. Thank you to the Write Time Workshop in Paris for inviting me! If you’d like to come, please contact me for the Zoom link.
