I love this. Cafes used to be one of my favourite places to be. I loved the chatter of the people around me. Late night cafes full of artists, musicians and creatives going about their post show lives.

I don’t get to spend as much time as I would like just chatting in cafes anymore. But I do have three favourites in the town I live in. They are all three so very different.

One has books and art and the best vegan cinnamon buns I’ve ever had. The code is good and the staff is full of cool creatives.

Another is open concept with plenty of tables and warm lighting. Good coffee and snacks and no need to rush out. The staff is so friendly that they have me a free coffee the other day because I’d forgotten mine once.

Another is a restaurant cafe where the proprietor makes incredible food and welcomes me like family. When I can’t make it to the cafe she delivers food to me by hand at the bookstore where I work.

A good cafe is essential to my life.

And I work in one too, so I get to be part of so many people’s day. Making them good coffee and checking in with their lives.

I love your adventures, and your life with Charles. Thank you for sharing it here. 💖💖💖

thanks, Wake. here the cafes are seldom open late. Art House is open until 10pm at least. i feel like the cafe is replacing restaurants and bars for some of us. it can be a cheaper alternative and a way to socialize and spend time with others and be around friendly strangers. i love that you are welcomed like family at the restaurant/cafe. that does not surprise me :) xo
